Dodital Darwa Pass Trek

Overview

Dodital, an emerald lake at 3,200 mts/10,500 ft. above sea level, is concealed amidst tall mountains. Trekkers from all over the world visited Dodital, one of Uttarakhand’s most magnificent lakes. The beautiful and peaceful Dodital is located high up, outside the Bhagirathi river valley. This lake’s loveliness is incomparable to any other.  Dodital is a sacred lake where Lord Ganesh was born, according to Hindu folklore. There is a temple here that is devoted to Lord Ganesha, who according to legend chose this place as his home. The freshwater Golden Mahseer, one of the most well-known trout fish in the Himalayas, also makes this lake their home.

Due to its exceptional skill as one of the top winter treks, it has become a well-known destination. A 40 km moderate trek that begins in the Uttarkashi district’s little village of Agoda will take you to the lake. Camping next to this lovely and idyllic setting is certainly enjoyable. It is a perfect site for relaxing and planning leisure activities like fishing, and bird viewing.

A lover of nature will adore Dodital Lake’s fascination, mystery, and natural beauty. An ideal getaway is provided by the serene surroundings, sparkling streams, clear water, and lush alpine mountains. Half the fun is in getting there because the views are so breathtaking on Dodital Darwa Pass trek.

The walk route passes through scenic Garhwali villages and vast oak and rhododendron forests. It genuinely is a lover of nature’s nirvana. The majority of the route is of moderate difficulty, except for a few challenging climbs. This trek is all about relaxing and letting nature take control.

The delightful 40-kilometer journey starts in the village of Agoda and continues to the 4,151-meter-high Darwa Pass and the 3,024-meter-high Dodital Lake. For a summer landscape, this hike is best done throughout April to June, and between October and December for winter scenery of the frozen lake.
